Shop Transformation: 3.Make an Entrance
Do you ever need to be reminded to breathe? No? Just me? Ok, well I needed that reminder (still do some days) throughout this entire remodel. I bought this early on at Home Goods because it spoke to me...visually, anyway, lol! Honestly, I am so over the "words" everywhere in home decorland. It's bad enough I have thoughts and to do lists racing through my mind at a steady pace all day long. The barrage of visual words (even encouraging) everywhere is too much for me. But, this will probably remain, because I bought it even when I was sick of the wordy decor trend. It is a single reminder as I walk into my shop, that it's all going to be ok. Life. Work. Marriage. Friendships. The brutally hot weather...if I wait long enough.
God is my provider and this shop is a tangible reminder of how He cares about the big and small details of my life.
Alright, enough about word art...THIS is what the entry used to look like.
There was a window to the left of the front door that had a crack in it, so I chose to omit it altogether. When To The Full Construction replaced my front door, I asked them to remove the window and just wall it off. This allowed me to buy a 36" door to replace the old 32". Don't worry, we didn't toss Miss Beverly's door - we saved it and hung it up as art in the shop! This building has no shortage of windows and I don't miss that old cracked one at all. It also makes the exterior look better, in my opinion.

Paint played a huge role in this project! The walls throughout the shop are Behr Premium Bright White, the doors are Gray Owl by Benjamin Moore and the floors are Valspar porch, floor & patio paint in Light Gray. Jay, my go-to for all things electrical, swapped out the flush mount for this streamlined fixture from CB2 and hooked me up with a new exit sign. I snagged the clock from Rejuvenation while it was on sale. And good ol' IKEA fabric shades were a super affordable option for immediate privacy.
Check out some more before and afters of this small, but welcoming new entrance. Here's a "during" shot from right after the new door was installed. My hardware hadn't arrived yet and I still didn't know what color I was going to paint the door, but this stage was very exciting!
